New standard in Aquafeed TBMA have redesigned their H-GRD blowing seal, dedicated to handling fish feed on feed barges for open sea fish farming. Barge builders have to deal with specific requirements for the feeding systems, such as limited space and an isolated, salty environment. So, how could we help them with a smart solution valve? The H-GRD of itself already is a robust and reliable valve that offers efficient dosing. Most important for aquafeed, its gentle handling causes minimal damage to the fish feed and therefore minimal water pollution. As a result, the ROI of the valve is very favourable. For the redesign, we mounted a direct in-line drive and consequently reduced the number of parts. As a result, maintenance is even easier than before and less spare parts are required. Moreover, the valve has a smaller installation size. Triple advantage! We are excited that our customers have enthusiastically welcomed the new design: the valves have already been used on the largest barge built so far. The model TR22-A resistance thermometer is used for temperature measurement in sanitary applications. The process connections meet the stringent requirements, in terms of materials and design, of hygienic measuring locations. With increased hygienic requirements for the ambient areas around the measuring location, a stainless steel head is available in an optimised hygienic design. This enables easy cleaning of the measuring instrument, particularly for splash zones in food production. Due to the rotatable threaded connection to the connection head, it is possible to loosen the connection head and to adjust it in the desired position. The connection head can be removed together with the measuring insert. This allows the resistance thermometer to be calibrated along with the whole measuring chain, i.e. without disconnecting the electrical connections. In addition, this avoids having to open the process, and thus the risk of contamination is minimised. The spring-loaded measuring insert guarantees the contact between the sensor tip and the bottom of the protection tube and thus ensures a fast response time and high accuracy. The welded junction between the protection tube and the flange makes the use of a sealing as additional material in those areas redundant which are in contact with the product. The new rotary valve RES from TOREX® The TOREX® organization has grown very quickly over the years and is a real specialist in the controlled processing of powders and granulates through a large program of, among other things, loading bellows, diverter valves and rotary valves. For example, TOREX® is currently one of the larger players in the field of rotary valves in the world, and they produce a wide range of versions in cast iron and stainless steel. The program includes various drop-through and blow-through sluice gates, which vary from a simple dust sluice to sluice gate versions for the processing of powders and granules with critical properties, hygiene or where quick access plays a role. By constantly investing in the development of new machines and production methods, a recent result of this is the rotary valve type RES that can be seen at the Solids 2023. The rotor of the lock can be pulled out by means of an innovative rail system and is therefore easy and quick to inspect or clean. Rupture discs and safety valves can be combined in two different configurations: The rupture disc can be installed below the safety valve or the two pressure relief systems installed prallel. If the systems are installed next to each other, the response pressure of the rupture disc is higher than that of the safety valve. If the rise in pressure is so large and rapid that the safety valve cannot respond sufficiently quickly or if it fails to open, the rupture disc serves as a reliable backup system to relieve the pressure. If the rupture disc is installed below the safety valve it can perform a number of roles.
