Ex STM 515 – steuteEx STM 515 safety lock from steute
Steute recently launched the new Ex STM 515. A series of heavy-duty electromechanical safety interlocks specially designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The Ex STM 515 interlocks meet the highest safety standards in ATEX environments and are suitable for use in explosion zones 1 and 21. Variants are also available (on request) for gas and dust (Ex zone 2 & 22 respectively). These solenoid interlocks have a sturdy, stainless steel housing and have a high degree of protection against water and dust with an IP66 classification.

Monitoring the lock status
The Ex STM 515 has two switch contacts that are suitable for connecting two safety contacts. This means that the safety interlock not only provides secure locking, but also allows monitoring of, for example, a door or valve status. Depending on the type, the Ex STM 515 locks are equipped with an auxiliary release (front) or even an auxiliary (front) and escape release (rear) so that the lock can be quickly opened in an emergency.

Flexibility
To increase installation flexibility, the actuator heads can be rotated 4 x 90°. This means that the Ex STM 515 safety locks can be placed almost anywhere.

Ex STM 515 areas of application
The Ex STM 515 series is available in different models, making the series suitable for a wide range of applications in the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as in the food and recycling industries. With a power consumption of only 2.5 watts, the Ex STM 515 locks provide secure locking of doors and flaps, while keeping energy consumption low
