A good screw design depends on various factors.
When designing a screw conveyor (horizontal, inclined, or vertical), a Klinkenberg designer must consider the different flow properties of powders, granules, chips, and/or fibers.
Experience has shown that properties such as particle size, bulk density, and particle shape have a significant impact on the capacity of a screw conveyor. A product with coarse particles will flow more easily than a product with fine particles. Additionally, a particle with a round shape, for example, has lower friction resistance, resulting in better flow behavior and increased screw capacity.
By carefully considering the properties of powders, granules, chips, or fibers, it is possible to determine in advance whether these bulk materials have good flow characteristics or not. This is something our experts always consider.
