Hazardous substances such as kerosene, diesel, light mineral oils and solvents can be electrostatically charged by various processes such as filling and emptying containers, pumping, stirring, mixing and spraying. If these are flammable liquids, there is a risk of ignition from sparks during electrostatic discharge.
In order to guarantee safety, it is important to measure the conductivity exactly and preferably in different places. Based on the measurement result, you will know whether it is necessary to add additives to prevent electrostatic discharge or to take other measures.
The market asked whether it is not possible to measure over a larger range (Existing MLA900 range: 0 – 2000 pS/M).
As MBA instruments Benelux we can report that 2 new variants for mobile sampling are now available:
• MLA1000-TX for measurements in laboratory environment
o option 1: 0 – 10,000 pS/m
o option 2: 0 – 15,000 pS/m
• MLA1000-TZ for measurements in the field (ATEX working environment – 2G)
o option 1: 0 – 10,000 pS/m
o option 2: 0 – 15,000 pS/m
